Moisture and hydration

Hydration is a beneficial influence on scar control and is the basis of the use of silicone sheeting and silicone gel. Furthermore, an extract from the plant Bulbine frutescens increases hydration along with tape by locking in a layer of fatty vesicles of glycoprotein on the skin surface. Dimethicone (silicone) is one of the most effective hydrating agents used in scar control.
