Keloid scars

This is as a result of an overly aggressive healing process resulting from the excessive collagen production in the skin causing a scar to form that protrudes beyond the boundary of the injury site. This condition is genetic and treatment is limited to corticosteroid injections, silicone gel sheeting and laser therapy.
